Brookwood makes the final five for Station of the Year

Brookwood made it to the final five in the World Cup of Stations 2026. The Rail Delivery Group announced the result on Tuesday 20 October, and the title went to Irlam, near Manchester, with 4,786 votes. Berney Arms, Cardross and Yatton were the other finalists.
More than 150 stations were nominated this year, and a judging panel chose 20 of them for the public vote. Getting from there to the last five is a fine result for a village station. Thank you to everyone who voted, shared the link or put a poster up in their window.
The Rail Delivery Group runs the competition every year. This year’s theme was the part stations play in bringing people together, which suits Brookwood rather well.

The station garden

More than 30 volunteers turned a patch of unused railway land into a garden for the Railway 200 celebrations last year. It’s a quiet place to sit and remember loved ones, and it nods to the station’s old link with Brookwood Cemetery. Do pop in any time the station and cemetery are open.
